This is what Google launched right now: Gemini 3.8 Live. It’s basically a voice model with a Live Avatar. The Live Avatar pairs real-time voice conversations with an animated, lip-synced face that reacts to you in real time.

Other AI voice models are slow; they convert your voice to text, think about the response, type it out, and then use a robotic voice to read it back to you. This process is lengthy and has noticeable pauses.
Gemini 3.8 Live ends these things. It’s designed to handle all this stuff at once. In simple words, the model processes audio, video, and text simultaneously through a single interface.
How to use Gemini 3.8 Live for Free?
You can use the Gemini 3.8 Live (Voice only) model for free. Open the Gemini app on your phone, then tap the Live icon next to the chat bar to start a voice session.
On a computer, you can use Google AI Studio to access the Gemini 3.8 Live model for free. Right now, Gemini 3.8 Live supports 97 languages and lets you switch between them directly during a conversation.
How to Use Gemini 3.8 Live with Live Avatar
Well, not everyone can access the Live Avatar. The feature is available exclusively for Gemini Enterprise users. Also, the feature is gradually rolling out to Gemini Enterprise users.
Enterprise users have access to a library of pre-set characters, but creating a custom avatar is currently restricted and available only through enterprise allowlisting.
And the system-generated video and audio are digitally labeled with a SynthID.
