Google has unveiled Private AI Compute, a new cloud-based AI processing platform designed to deliver the advanced AI capabilities, speed, and intelligence of its Gemini models while keeping user data private and secure.
The platform enables users to experience faster, more capable AI features while ensuring their personal data remains private — even from Google itself. By allowing devices to access cloud-based AI performance without exposing personal information, it marks Google’s latest move toward building responsible, privacy-first AI. The launch mirrors Apple’s “Private Cloud Compute” introduced in 2024.
“For decades, Google has developed privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) to improve a wide range of AI-related use cases,” Google announced in a blog post on Tuesday.
Today, we’re taking the next step in building helpful experiences that keep users safe with Private AI Compute in the cloud, a new AI processing platform that combines our most capable Gemini models from the cloud with the same security and privacy assurances you expect from on-device processing. It’s part of our ongoing commitment to deliver AI with safety and responsibility at the core.”

How It Works

The system is built on Google’s own Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) and employs Titanium Intelligence Enclaves (TIE) — a hardware-based security layer that safeguards data during processing. To establish a secure environment, Google uses remote attestation and end-to-end encryption to verify trusted connections, ensuring that personal data is processed in a protected, isolated environment.
This multi-layered approach builds on Google’s Secure AI Framework (SAIF) and long-standing AI Principles and Privacy Principles, which emphasize user control, transparency, and safety.

Smarter Pixel Experiences

The first products to benefit from Private AI Compute are Google’s latest Pixel 10 smartphones. According to the search giant, the technology allows AI to offer more personal and proactive experiences, such as contextual suggestions based on emails, messages, and calendars from Magic Cue on Pixel 10 phones. Similarly, the Recorder app offers smarter summaries in a wider range of languages, thanks to the added processing power of Gemini cloud models.
Google noted that these improvements mark the start of a wider rollout across its ecosystem, enabling smarter and more personalised user experiences in products such as Search, Workspace, and Android.

Commitment Towards Responsible AI

Private AI Compute represents Google’s latest effort to align innovation with user trust while redefining how AI systems handle sensitive data. It marks a key milestone in the company’s commitment to developing helpful, personal, and privacy-safe AI.
“This is just the beginning. Private AI Compute opens up a new set of possibilities for helpful AI experiences now that we can use both on-device and advanced cloud models for the most sensitive use cases,” Google concluded.
